Weekly Update: February 12-16

Greetings,
This is another busy week at St. Bernard's and an important time in our Church Calendar, the start of Lent (marked by the colour purple on our calendar). Shrove Tuesday is the last chance for over-indulgence; eating up all of the rich foods in our cupboards (for example, making pancakes), to make way for the Lenten season the following day where we fast or give up certain things.
We will have a Liturgy on Ash Wednesday where each student will have ashes placed on their foreheads as a sign of repentance for our sins. All families are welcome to attend.
Given that Valentine's Day begins this year on Ash Wednesday, a day of fasting from festivities and food, classroom celebrations for Valentine's Day will be held on Tuesday. Students may choose to wear pink/red/white on Tuesday.
